Dear Christmas

Today I am going to talk about Christmas and the celebration that is so tradicional the most of the countrys that are mainly christian.

I don’t like very much the party too (as Daniela), becaus I dont belive an Gott or christ, but despite thar I celebrate with my family, because is a tradition very expanded in Chile. It dosent matter me that, but also I am not that enthusiastic by that day. The only aspect that it likes me is the dinner, but not because exactly for the meal (as for Daniela hahaha), the good thing is that people get together, especialy the familys.

For me is a good instance because I don’t se very oft to my family. I don’t give many gifts, just a few sometimes, but I recive more gifts als I gave; and when I gift a thing, I prefer to gave a card with a few words with real feelings that for example a par of socks. I don’t give many gifts because 1- I don’t think that is necessary, 2- I don’t have a lot of money 3- I don’t like the consumerism im general. I think that is sick that the most of the people get in to debt just because a religion or the Tv says so.

An interesting sociologist and antropologist, Marcel Mauss, have a very complete studio about the gifts-exchange and her meaning. He says that what existed behind the gift is the relation between the people, and that the gift where a form to maintain the link, a recordatory or a confirmation that the relation till exist. I think that what Mauss tells is not a bad thing, but it is bad when this thing is an obligation and more if existed Business behind the gifts.

AND THAT’S WHY I RECOMMEND THIS SONG: “CONSUMO GUSTO” OF “SKA-P”

Patagonia sin represas!!

I describe myself as a person with environment consciousness, I know about the problem and that is not important, fundamental for the humanity and the ecosystem to care our earth, bur I am not a “green activist”.

In Chile there not exist a culture about caring the environment, existed organizations but they are not many. I think they are almost the only source of knowledge about friendly practices in Chile, because in the most schools they didn’t teach that. I have not incorporated the recycling practices, because I have not in the building where I live and I don’t know other places either. I don’t use a bike, but didn’t use a car either. Here in Santiago I use the transantiago, I would like to have a bike but I don’t have the money for that today. In Punta Arenas, I use the collective locomotion or I walk.

I didn’t joined any eco organizations, but I went to all the principals marches again the Hidroaysen project (they want to kill the Patagonia! That’s awful). I support the environment cause but I prefer to fight to most of my time for other causes, more political. In any case, I think that the both struggles should to work together because they both have the same enemy, the more powerful people of the world that dominated are exploits many people and natural sources for economical interest. I didn’t have done activities for reducing the carbon footprint.

I think that the mainly priority for the people from Santiago should be to improve the air, that is unbelievably dirty, filth and unhealthy.

Protesters' stories: Camila Vallejo and Chile

Today I am going to talk about this news article:

This article is an interview to Camila Vallejo. She relates a few thing over the protest in Chile during the last year 2011.

She says that this year was especial because existed many social protest mainly between may and November. There was more as 200 marches just in Santiago, but the they were along the whole country. Camila tells about the unbelievable quantity of people that went to the marches. They were plan, but the leaders of this year “never imagine” says Camila the thousands and thousands of people that assisted to the protests.

The other important thing that Camila tells is about the legacy of the dictatorship today In Chile and the behavior of the police. During the 2011 existed many complaints about torture that the Chilean police make in the marches to the detained people. She also says that today we have in Chile a lot of laws and the legacy of Pinochet, for example that the civil society in Chile is very week.

This article is related to my discipline (Sociology) because talks about the social changes that happened in the Chilean society during the 2011.

I let you this video (about the police, not the news)

Connecting us with the music

The music is the sound that completes our lives, that allows to us to be with someone and not talking.

When I was a child, a listen the music that my parents listen. My parents are from the 70s and the 80s, and that’s why they listen Los Jaivas, Quilapayun, Silvio Rodriguez, Luz Casal, Illapu and other groups related to the links. But today I listen other things and I have developed my own taste.

My favourites genres are mainly: Reggae, Punk and Hiphop. The Reggae is my favourite music for a time for relax, and also likes to me part of the rasta philosophy. One of my favourite band is “Resistencia Suburbana” a reggae group of Argentina.

The Hiphop likes me a lot because it’s a very good rhythm and it’s very good appropriate for saying things and live messages. One of my favourite band of Chilean hiphop is “Salvaje Decibel” and from Punta Arenas “Tinta Roja”.

Finally, my favourite genre is Punk, the rhythm I like very much and also the dance that normally do the people in the toccatas, the “pogo dance” or the moshing. My favourite band is “La Polla Records” and “Gatillazo”. The both bands are from the singer Evaristo Paramos. The songs from Evaristo and the philosophy of the life are in my opinion the bests.
